George Michael vs

In reading its easy to forget a characters complexion, so that in the novel one can forget that children are children, as they adopt adult tendencies; the film adaptation presents us with no such opportunity. The book is what changed my lifethough I dont deny I was prepared for a change to take place, as soon after reading it, some months later, my first depressions set in, and perhaps its this book that provided the impetus to pursue literature, which gave me the vocabulary I found necessary for depression. I dont knowdo people grow depressed who are not also well-read? I read this twice in a week, devastated, and ran off to the book store demanding literature that dealt with the subject of human naturethey were happy to give me Salinger, and so I first experienced that revelation of revelations, the one youre supposed to have while reading Catcher. As fascinating as I found this book, the discussion in school was rather abstract and at best literal; the nearest we focused on interpretation was the statement made by Golding somewhere in his introduction or notes on the significance of the boys being rescued at the height of their war by civilized man, who more civilized than a British soldier? in the height of his own war. And so the rescue becomes a singular instance, rescue from the island, rescue from a specific struggle, but not rescue from the larger struggle, which is so vastly expanded, so impersonal, that we can overlook it. War is a struggle between states, not men, it is a distant struggle, subsisting by words in newspapers, words in textbooks, the injuries and deaths negligible by their quantification.
Golding, of course, addresses both the nature of man and of organized society. Throughout there is a need to reach the bottom of things, the bottom of society being the individual, the bottom of the individual being—the child? The basest instincts? The children begin by being isolated from one another, and with the meeting of Ralph and Piggy so begins the structure of society, that is, when Ralph names Piggy, despite Piggy’s suggestion of the name, so Ralph exerts his control over him. This we cannot forget, because though it doesn’t function as an “original sin”—which comes later in the film—it recalls the naming of Adam by God, and of Adam’s naming the animals. Ralph shows an excessive concern over the names of the boys, placing that as the foremost organization task. So we’re left questioning whether Ralph is pure as supralapsarian Adam, or as sinful as the sons of Noah and their attempted tower. Ralph, as the one character who maintains a belief and memory of an omnipotent England (Piggy relinquishes that memory when he denies the murder of Simon), perhaps the protagonist, has this cruelty hang over his head despite the goodness he intends throughout the rest of the film. Piggy remains Piggy. This suggests that Ralph, as the purest character, aside from Simon, who is more a concept than a character in any case, still is plagued with darkness and sin. He may not be so cruel as Jack, but he is cruel.
Our introduction to Jack is as he leads a small choir down the beach. His role as leader is already established. The song they sing, as the film progresses, is repeated as the boys become savages, yet holding a pretty quality. And finally, in the rescue scene, the song is played again, the sound of a military band, voicing a definite confidence. The band’s music provides a calm reassurance, as we know the danger has passed for the boys, and thus the comparison of boys and men, of savagery and civilization. Music has a unique quality of being something that, in its performance, requires no competition: both players and audience reap the benefits, nobody loses. This idea makes all the more poignant the turning of the choir into the band of hunters, whose function is to assure the ultimate competitive situation, even unfairly. It is this group who commits the “original sin” when they kill the sow by spearing her “right in the arse.” Aside from the obvious sexual implications, there’s also the fact that the sow is perhaps the only source of meat on the island. Unlikely, but that’s the impression given. She can create piglets, but nobody can create her. By the same token, these are the boys later responsible for burning down the islands trees: the trees can create fruit, but nobody can create the trees. And thus, back to the sow, we are brought to the “lord of the flies”—which, as I recall, is the translation of the name Beelzebub, which in itself is a perversion of “Ba’al Zebub” or some such version of the Canaanite god. It doesn’t hold bad connotations until the bible attaches them, and I can’t help but recall Milton’s legions of hell. And this is where I always grow a bit stumped on meaning. Simon, who is something of a transcendentalist, who in the novel is subject to fits not unlike an ancient Middle-Eastern prophet, in the film takes on a Christlike quality, not only in his ritual murder, but also through his ability to instill life in those things that the other boys overlook, sublimating the mountains and the flies in his quiet scrutiny. Simon holds the only vestige of an ultimate higher power, something beyond England. When he suggests they climb the rocks, he questions whether there is anything else they can do; what else is there but to reach to the heights? And he maintains his reserve when he encounters the “beast” long enough to identify it and make his slow return back to the camp—where he is presently murdered—which gives him the power to destroy it, if only through identification of it, through a silent “naming” of the thing, the power of God, not assumed—like Ralph or Jack’s power—but granted.
This suggests to me that the “lord of the flies” is not the sow’s head left as an offering to the beast, nor is “the beast” the dead man in the parachute. As an offering, it might be said that Simon “brings” it to the beast merely through his observation of both. But it is through his virtual “naming” of the beast that he exerts his influence over it, making him something of the beast’s creator, and in his refusal to shy from the sow’s head and its resident flies, Simon is displayed holding a power over the “lord of the flies”—and when he is wrongly murdered as the beast, “wrong” is perhaps the incorrect assumption. Indeed, within Simon is the truth of the beast’s nature, and in his death the terrible secret remains. Simon is the lord of the flies, as he presides over their feast, as he gives definition to the beast. The boys kill him rightly when they act as if control of the beast is itself the exercising of evil, when we observe that the darkness and light may be mistaken for one another, when they are so nearly the same, when Simon tries to explain everything, to bring light to the boys’ fearful darkness, when the light of the boys’ fire casts the shadows that doom Simon.
So it goes in reality, the leaders and their followers preferring darkness to light, for the excuse to act savagely toward one another and toward nature, for the excuse to follow blindly toward a questionable salvation from the supernatural rather than a sure rescue within life.

Who else, when they heard that the movie Obsessed won the weekend box office, thought to themselves, Damn, Jay-Z might be on to something. I actually heard about that shit on the nightly news. Not even one of these bullshit entertainment news programs, like Access Hollywood or whatever, but the actual evening news on network TV. Maybe theyre doing more bullshit entertainment programming on the evening news. I wouldnt know. The only time I ever watch the shit is when Im at my parents house, which is how I saw it this weekend. The news was actually framed as a matter of Beyoncé managing to win the weekend box office, rather than the movie itself. Which I took to mean that this might signal the beginning of a new era of high profile roles in films for Beyoncé. Regardless of whether or not it was her star power that rocketed Obsessed to the top of the weekend box office, and regardless of whether or not she has any real talent for acting (of course I wouldnt know), Im sure shell be fielding several lucrative offers. And it was only a few weeks ago that I read that Beyoncé may have made more money last year than Jay-Z. I didnt bother reading it, but I remember there was a story on MTV News about how much the two of them made last year, and as I recall, she made $89.5 million to Jays $89 million, or something along those lines. Or who knows. It could be that Jay made a bit more than Beyoncé. Either way, I was more struck by the fact that Im not even sure what Beyoncé does. Jay-Z spends his waking hour coming up with new ways to whore himself out to tall Israeli interests, and all Beyoncé does is sing. And we dont even know for a fact that she can sing very well. I know Beyoncé has been in a few movies, like that Austin Powers movie, and Cadillac Records, and Dreamgirls and what have you, but she hasnt really been a big name in Hollywood until just. Those were all either big franchises, or low budget movies. Either way, she probably wasnt able to command much of a fee. The real money in Hollywood comes when they think your name attached to a film can guarantee it makes $100 million. Thats that Will Smith money. If Beyoncé, could get even halfway to that level, forget about it. Meanwhile, I wouldnt be surprised if Jay-Z starts to gradually fade into irrelevance. I mean, even more so than he already has. If you notice, Blueprint 3 never did come out, and something tells me it didnt have anything to do with him not having enough time to work on it. And you have to wonder how many more of these bullshit deals he can sign for big paydays. Those years when he was making $100 million a year or whatever, its not like he was making that from recording or performing. He was selling off his clothing line, his record company, the rights to whatever money he makes from recording and touring for god knows how long, so on and so forth. I wouldnt be surprised if he doesnt make nearly as much going forward. He might be running out of shit to sell. Beyoncé might be his strongest performing asset from here on out. Which just goes to show how brilliant Jay-Z is. I mean, if you dont mind being married to Beyoncé primarily for the purposes of making more money than you could ever really spend anyway. I would have taken my half a billion dollars or whatever and used it to bang a number of broads who more or less resemble the women who act in the pr0n I enjoy, if not the actual pr0n stars, but you guys know I have a lot of personal problems. Back when they got married, it was widely reported that Jay-Z basically bought Beyoncé from Beyoncés father. In exchange for his daughter, the old man got a fleet of classic cars and airplane and what have you. Jay even had to agree to continue to put gas in the airplane. It seemed ridiculous to me that a man should have to pay so much money to a family of people who already have so much money, but Jay-Z probably knew she had a lot more earning potential than he did. The old man may have even presented Jay with a series of spreadsheets that said as much. Now that its actually begun to pay dividends, I can see the genius of this arrangement. Only thing is, you wonder what kind of access Jay-Z has to Beyoncés money. If Beyoncé makes $100 million next year, and Jay-Z doesnt make shit, how much of that $100 million can Jay spend before Beyoncés independent streak starts kicking in? Youd hope its a lot, given how much Jay had to spend to get her in the first place, but you know how these women are when they make more money than you. If it isnt anything at all, Jay might have been better off finding himself a broke chick with the ability to grow a full, healthy head of hair.

Beyonce I Am Tour Seattle Videos

  • Apr. 9th, 2009 at 6:31 PM

“I don’t think there’s really anything to address. I think it’s very, very funny.”
“They must have really enjoyed [my shows] that much to go and nitpick it, because it’s something they pulled up and was like, ‘Yo! There were a couple of things in there that I’ve never seen.’ I think that it’s important for us as artists to be original and to create something new, so it would be really silly of me to go and create something you’ve already seen.”
“So not one time were any of my references another artist. My references were clearly inspired from shows that I’ve actually seen. It goes to show how creative we can be and how close the worlds are. I did my first video with my metal outfit. I was inspired by Thierry Mugler. Now, from my understanding, Beyonce is using Thierry Mugler for her tour. It just is what it is. It’s very petty to me.

Are you ready for more Kelly, Beyonce and Michelle???
Well, though they called it quits a few years ago, Destinys Child is reuniting! And, sources tell us, not by choice.
They still have another album they owe their label, Columbia Records, on their contract, a well-placed insider tells us.
The timing is still being worked out, but expect a reunion to likely happen some time in 2011, after Bey with the I Am World Tour!
Thanks to Perez for the info.

five not-so-favourite episodes, we decided it would be time to count down our 10 favourite characters of all-time. These represent recurring or permanent staff characters (e.g. doctors, nurses and paramedics), patients will be another list for another day.
As always, feel free to chime in with your opinion. So here we go.
10. Dr. Robert Romano (Paul McCrane)
He may have been hated by the ER staff (and no doubt some of the fans at the beginning), but would ER have been half as interesting in its middle years without the sarcastic lip from Romano? I cant even begin to imagine ER without Romanos attitude, including his whiney (and very patronizing) callings to Dr. Corday. McCrane showed us what a monster Romano was, but also showed us that deep down, Romano did have a heart (even if it was the size of the Grinchs).
9. Haleh Adams (Yvette Freeman)
Haleh was one of those supporting characters that helped give the show structure. Whether its a knowing glance, or a cluck in disapproval, we knew what Haleh was thinking — even if the writers gave her nothing to say in response. Haleh had minor storylines here and there (shes been fired, and promoted and lost weight), but it is what Haleh, and a lot of the other nurses with names, represent. On a show that is known for its cast changes, and can rebound from them without a problem, to have pretty much the same supporting cast as you did in the beginning is not only a little impressive, but also provides a stability to the show that wouldnt have been there otherwise. I think that is why the audience was able to roll with all of the cast changes. Because the nurses were okay with it, we were okay with it.
8. Kerry Weaver (Laura Innis)
Before there was Ramano, there was Kerry. A thorn in Marks side (not to mention how much she rubbed Susan the wrong way, no matter what), Kerry Weaver wanted structure in the ER and didnt care how many people (Mark, Susan, Doug, Carol, etc.) hated her, structure would prevail. I was mixed about putting Kerry on this list at all because I liked her in the beginning, and I liked how TPTB gave her a disability (though I dont think we ever found out how Kerry get disabled), but when it came out that she was a lesbian, I just didnt buy it. I loved her relationship that she had the baby in, but the whole storyline just didnt work for me.
7. Susan Lewis: Seasons 1-3 (Sherry Stringfield)
I am only counting the first time we saw Susan: the one Mark was in love with, not the one that came back in season 8 or 9 or whatever. The Susan that lived at the beginning of the series was a woman with a lot of issues, but someone who had a lot of storylines to tell (sadly it was cut short when Stringfield wanted out in 1996). The storyline with Chloe and baby Suzy was heartbreaking, but so was the Susan at work. Here is a woman who wanted to be the best, but didnt quite have the faith in herself that others had in her (i.e. Mark). I think Susan may have been a great character if she had stuck around longer, but alas when she came back in 2001, I just didnt care for her (and neither did Mark, I think he prefered the 1994-1996 Susan too). And she hooked up with Carter, which was all kinds of yuck.
6. Carol Hathaway (Julianna Margulies)
We have to put Carol on this list since it was due to viewer demand she lived beyond the pilot episode. I think Carol and Doug provided one of the greatest will-they-wont-they storylines on television in the mid- to late-90s. His insistence and her resistance as she tried to get her life back on track without falling into the trap she knew would be bad for her was charming. Carols feeling that she wasnt good enough: from her failed suicide attempt to start the series, to her decision to go back to school in the possibility of going to med school was charming. It was a nice change to have a beautiful woman play against type: Carol wasnt there just to be a pretty face, she was a real person. With real feelings and insecurities.
5. Abby Lockhart (Maura Tierney)
I miss Abby everyday. She is one of the few characters that was promoted from a one- or few-episodes arc to full-fledged regular that I didnt mind the promotion. Abby is another character that had her demons that she didnt know how to deal with: from her alcoholism, to her mother and brothers mental illnesses, to her problem with men (from Kovac to Carter to Kovac to Carter to Kovac — but dont tell Carter). Abby was Carol, multiplied by 1,000. She began her ER career as a nurse, then attended medical school and became a doctor. Only a lot of Abby was still a nurse, and that showed. And while Maura Tierney told the press she would have been happy to see her alter-ego die as she left the ER for good, I am glad that our Abby rode into the sunset with her knight (Kovac) and shining armour (Baby Joe).
4. Doug Ross (George Clooney)
This was an easy choice, obviously. Considering Ive mentioned George Clooney in every post on ER thus far, it was only natural that. Dr. Ross make the list. Besides being the bad boy with the heart of gold, any woman would melt if they saw a man giving them the longing looks that Doug gave Carol almost from the beginning of the show. Even after the two got together, it did not diminish Dougs love, passion and longing for her (remember his gift of the drawer to her?). When Doug decided to leave Chicago, leaving Carol sobbing as he walked away, the audience cried a little too.
3. Luka Kovac (Goran Visjnic)
Wife? Dead. Kids? Dead. Homeland? War-torn. Is there anything about Dr. Kovac that wouldnt melt your heart? Many audience members were wary of Kovac when he started and befriended poor alone and pregnant Carol. Luckily though, Carol rode off into the sunset and Kovac proved to be quite the ladies man (when he wasnt with Abby). That may be the most surprising, and gratifying, relationship ever produced in the ER: two doctors, brought together by grief and loss, accidentally find themselves pregnant. The two decide not only to keep the baby, but end up getting married. And if poor emotionally-battered Luka had a soulmate, it would have been emotionally-battered Abby.
2. John Carter (Noah Wyle)
Yes, the show was obviously meant to centre around Carters experiences (much like Scrubs does with J.D.), but Carter never really grabbed me. He played the whole I-dont-want-to-be-a-rich-boy thing well, and Noah Wyle brought a lot to the character, but Carter was just so stupid sometimes. It would have been nicer if Wyle had stuck around and we had seen Carter grow up completely: from medical student to the man he is today, but sadly Wyle left before the show did (yes, he will be back at this end of this month, but its not the same).
1. Mark Greene (Anthony Edwards)
Could there be anyone better to top this list? I think not. Greene was ERs heart, and the series hasnt been the same since he left. We saw him in love (Susan, Elizabeth), in pain (Marks anger problem, losing Jen and Rachel), in sickness (his brain tumor) and in health. Whether it was the writing for Greene, or simply Edwards acting, I dont think well ever know; but there has never been a character on ER since Mark that was able to grab us. I think Marks character showed a man in more pain and suffering most of the time than his patients, a man tormented. And once he finally found peace, he was diagnosed with cancer and died. After all, wouldnt we all like a doctor like Mark taking care of us.

Rihanna has made it no secret that she idolises Beyonce. Well, thats before she changed up her sound and image ala the second coming of Fefe Dobson. What better way than to be just like your idol by having your first lawsuit (filed yesterday) for using an unauthorized music sample. Im sure it wasnt intentional, but nobody wants to be seen as a thief. At least itll add to the long list of ghostly comparisons despite the two not having that much in common (except for similar skin tone and Jay-Z connection).
The singer is being sued by 75-year-old Manu Dibango because she sampled his 1972 song Soul Makossa which was used in her hit single t Stop The Music. Unfortunately, she didnt get the required authorization to use it. The track was originally sampled by Michael Jackson for his classic smash Wanna Be Startin Something from the album (1983). However, MJ previously acknowledged using a section of Soul Makossa as the riff on Wanna Be Startin Something, and the two sides eventually reached a settlement over the unauthorized sample.
Reportedly, it will be ruled on Feb 17th whether the case will move forward. Dibangos attorneys are also asking the court to block Sony BMG, EMI and Warner from profiting off the contested songs until the dispute is settled. Let those Rihanna is broke jokes dig themselves up from out of the ground yet again.

Me and my thoughts ~: ~ Beyonce Vs

  • Feb. 3rd, 2009 at 7:48 PM

Mon Dieu. Voyons! Voyons. Ca, C'est le création' pour LE DIEU
Oh my god, I have never seen such hatred, such ridiculous fervor in attacking and maligning another human being in my life. I dont get it. The only other woman I know that is hated this much by women of her own race is Angelina Jolie and she at least deserves it a little, after all, she did snatch someone else's husband, although I must say that I still adore her though. I just love powerful women who aren't afraid to be themselves authentically.

Anyways, back to Beyonce. I love this girl. She is beautiful. Simple. Say it after me "Beyonce is a beautiful woman". Admit it, it wont kill you. Nope, you will not choke to death. NO just go ahead, admit it. Ain't nothing wrong with speaking the truth even if it makes you want to choke on that hate bread you have eating all day. Seriously.

She is talented. She may not be the best singer ever, but she is better than Michele and Kelly, so pray tell why shouldn't she be the front runner of the group. She writes songs, now these songs may not be particularly genius material but she at least tries. and yes she probably is the only black female entertainer who has created a word that was added to the Webster dictionary. The word I speak of his bootylicious. and yes you all are not READY for my freaking JELLY, cuz ma body is too BOOTYLICIOUS for you all.

Fine she is light skin

Well why were they hating on light skinned women, I don't get it. (and yup Ms. O, I seem to not be able to stop using the word now that you have decided to ban it). I am light skinned and I have friends that are light skinned and I am deeply offended when some ignoramus claims and I quote "Light skin women aint shit". Sango will fashi that your stupid mouth, you stupid ridiculous BOMBASTIC IDIOT OF A HUMAN BEING. I will be the first person to admit that Black is beautiful. I think Alek Wek is gorgeous but so am I dammit. There is no rule saying both of us cannot be absolutely stunning. Which I am by the way. So please anytime you want to start hating on Beyonce's skin, watch your goddamn mouth. I went to Vegas last summer and I went with my friend who is dark and lovely and super skinny. So it was really hot and the sun was acting like it was on steroids. So I told her that I didn't want to get dark because of the sun and she got totally offended. OK so every time your foolish self said something about being scared of gaining weight at size zero, am I supposed to get angry and offended. Nonsense. So she ignores me after I told her to go and siddon somewhere.

I mean a lot of women love Michele Obama and I am PROUDLY one of them, and I look nothing like her. I don't think she is the most attractive woman on earth but I respect her and her self confidence and that she is got a good Man and that she has had a fabulous career.

Beyonce is proudly middle class, she does not try to act like she went through some horrible struggle. I am seriously irritated when black people claim to not like someone because they didn't go through a struggle. Blackness should not be defined by a STRUGGLE. Now she could have went the Ja-Rule route and try to act like she didn't grow up in some suburb, pampered by two educated parents. If we found out stuff like that, we will all be shouting faux play at the top of our lungs.

Seriously, Keyshia Cole meet me on camera 5 "Babygirl, you annoy me, with all that tacky family drama you are airing for the whole world to see. But I adore your music though". Love Temite.

Beyonce is married to my favourite rapper ever and he seems to be deeply in love with her.
She is rich. But shouldn't you want to get your papers too. I don't know why these girls find her success threatening.

I also don't get when one of the girls cite the "cater to you song" as Anti Woman. Michele Obama's actions are probably more of a danger to women's advancement than beyonce's insipid little song.

WHAT?!!!!

Hold up Temite, now you have gone too far. Explain yourself?

OK. Here we go..

I mean she left her job because of her husbands career and to take care of her kids. Now I don't see how that advances the plight of women in the workplace. At least Beyonce is married to a powerful man (albeit of lesser power) but she is still keeping her freaking day job. So all you feminist can go ahead and put Beyonce's picture on your wall now. Go ahead. Now who is more of a feminist? ehn! God I cant believe I actually argued that point. Geez Temite, you sef are too much o. (shakes head).

P.S - I am not hating on Michele. I really like her and I enjoy watching the lovely family she has created. She is a perfect middle class American Woman who happens to be the first lady of my country and MY FIRST LADY IS BLACK!
To wind down this rant.
I was just so stunned at the level of anonymity this girls had for Beyonce. I mean seriously. Maybe I love her because she is curvy, maybe I love her because shes light skinned. Maybe I love her because she knows she has talents and she is not willing to display a false modesty. maybe I love her because she is NOT willing to air her dirty laundry in public (I really must emulate her in this area). And yes if that makes you think she lacks personality then fine.

I just like her sha and that's all. So if any of you all really dislike Beyonce, would you mind telling me why, because all of your reasons are moot points.

Y'all are the only cyber paraga (ALCOHOL) fo my belly o.

To my Sweery, my ololufe, the top paraga fo my belly, my Husband, I heart you o, forever and ever. May our e-love climb mountains and move oceans. This post is dedicated to you. My one and only e-love.

mRS fINEBOY aGBERO.

and random question of the week - Is it really a form of internalized self hatred to have fake nails and hair. I really want to know, it has something to do with my next post? and is a DIVA seriously the female version of a hustler.

Beyonce feat

If I Were A Boy (Remix) (ft. R. Kelly) Lyrics
If I were a boy
even just for a day
Id roll out of bed in the morning
and throw on what I wanted and go
Drink beer with the guys
and chase after girls
Id kick it with who I wanted
and Id never get confronted for it
cause they stick up for me
If I were a boy
I think I could understand
How it feels to love a girl
I swear Id be a better man
Id listen to her
Cause I know how it hurts
When you lose the one you wanted
Cause hes taking you for granted
And everything you had got destroyed
(R. Kelly)
If you were a boy
then girl youd understand
you need to stop listening to your friends
love, respect and trust your man
So I go to clubs with the guys
and sometimes flirt with the girls
I should be able to roll out
as long as Im coming home to you
and give you the world
But you are not a boy,
so you dont have a clue (ey)
How I work and pay the bills
girl and everything I do is for you (eh eh)
(Beyonce)
Id listen to her
Cause I know how it hurts
When you lose the one you wanted
Cause hes taking you for granted
And everything you had got destroyed
If I were a Boy (Beyonce)
If I were a Girl (Kelly)
I would turn off my phone (Beyonce)
I wouldnt play games (Kelly)
Tell everyone its broken
so theyd think that I was sleeping alone (Beyonce)
Girl you know thats wrong (Kelly)
I’d put myself first
and make the rules as I go
Cause I know that she’ll be faithful,
waiting for me to come home, to come home.

She was in New York doing a movie, and I get a phone call from someone at my record company. They go, ‘Rich, get Us Weekly. It just came out.’ (I’m thinking) maybe there is something cool about me. No, it was a f**king thing about Jennifer Love Hewitt in New York City… with seven guys.
I was on the bed having a panic attack, so I called her up and was like, ‘Do you have something to say to me?’. I was the girl in this relationship. And she goes, ‘Listen, don’t you f**king call me up like this when I am at work. If you believe that bulls**t, shame on you.’ She hung up.

In the last week I've received multiple requests for me to comment on Mitch Albom's "Detroiters carry on amid hardship" column in Sports Illustrated. I didn't get around to reading it until this weekend and I have some definite thoughts.

You can say what you want about Mitch, he's arrogant, he's aloof, he's an outsider, yada, yada, yada, but you can't deny that the guy has become a Detroiter. Face it, he could have left years ago for greener pastures, he could have pack up and moved to Chicago, New York and L.A. Frankly, I thought he would have been gone many years ago and always wondered why he didn't leave. There are more glamorous places to be a multimedia star, but the guy ALWAYS stayed.

Mitch Albom's Redemption

I think a bit of Mitch's turnaround can be traced to the disastrous "MSU" article that was at least partially fabricated. I think Mitch had a lot of time to reflect and certainly seems to have emerged as a more sympathetic figure in recent years. Maybe all it took was for all of us and HIM to see that he wasn't infallible?

Much of the Mitch Albom hatred is based on petty industry jealousy, broadcasters and journalists are some of the most petty, angry people you will ever meet. On many occasions I have been guilty as well. I'm not jealous of Mitch, we aren't in the same business, he's a journalist, I am a radio entertainer (or at least I was). I just couldn't get past Mitch's perceived arrogance, he seemed to ALWAYS come out on the short end of any encounter with a fan. Face it, Detroiters trafficked in Mitch Albom "snub" stories.

Mitch hits with his SI article

The SI article isn't the first one Mitch has written in defense of Detroit. He also wrote one that took the southern Senators to task for their opportunistic attack on Detroit. I blogged about it here. Believe it or not, Mitch is Detroit's most hi-profile journalist and his article are well thought out and written, they do have an impact nationally as they are the only way people outside of Michigan get Detroit's side of the story. Don't underestimate the impact of his opinion to the rest of the U.S. Most don't have the background and history with Mitch that we do as fellow Detroiters. I think his articles have been powerful and instrumental with those that Detroit are asking for help.

Mitch has become a Detroiter

The bottom line, Mitch has become a Detroiter, he cares about the city and its residents. He can be sappy and trite, he can appear arrogant, he is often dismissive but he NEVER left and NEVER will. After a lot of water under the bridge Mitch has solidified himself as a "Detroiter." Southeast Michigan should be thankful that they have such a voice.

We all know that gay men tend to have more emotionally charged outbursts than the non gays. There’s a genetic hysteria gene in there that says turn up the waterworks. Eoghan Quigg, the chirpy potato faced Michelin man from Northern Ireland honoured those rivers of gay tears as he added his own ocean full on tonight’s show as he was booted off.
Despite his earlier chirpy air punching and cries of come on, he was squashed flatter than a pancake as he received his news that he was booted off the show. The false sincerity and fake emotions from surviving contestants JLS and Alexandra Burke but most notably from the judges, led me to feel the only real winners were the show’s producers. Doctor Dermott was there to pour on the false disappointments and lead the nauseating love ins.
Youngest contestant
The problem was, that despite the chirpy charm and the youngest finalist card being played at every opportunity, EUGHAN QUIGG is basically a singing potato with a dead cat on his head. Tonight, his clothes, jewellery and make up were all wrong on so many levels. The famous aerodynamic hairdo he has been wearing was in overdrive tonight ridiculously too big, ridiculously tousled into Christmas tree sized proportions.
Performance not good enough
He has been given the just reward due. The dream of show success is over. The verdict a damming one. His performance just wasn’t good enough and while it’s a shame to see a boy cry his eyes out on live television, how smug did JLSlook, knowing the golden haired one was thrown back to the ranks of the plebs, the wannabes, the vanquished.
No doubt a single and album will be forthcoming, but who remembers George Sampson (BGT winner) ? Flash in the pan like so many others trying to follow their Osmondesque dream of world domination.
He came, he saw, he Quigged.
